SECULAR DHARMA TALKS
The dharma of nostalgia – two talks by Winton Higgins
‘Unreflective nostalgia can breed monsters’, according to Svetlana Boym in her book, The future of nostalgia. In these two talks, Winton Higgins reflects on Boym’s book through a secular dharma lens.
We dharma practitioners need to nail nostalgia as a form of craving for existence, and to remember our responsibility to probe the phenomenon under the rubric of ‘investigation of phenomena’, the second of the seven factors of awakening.
